Fear the Feathers- Elementary Edition

Hello PV Elementary School Families,

I want to thank each and every one of you for sharing your student with us this year, and for allowing us to have a chance to impact their life in a positive way! I am thankful and humbled by the opportunity to be the principal at PV! Thank you all!

Fear the Feathers!

School Board Approves Bond Proposal!!!

The SPS school board unanimously approved a bond proposal for the April 2nd ballot.  Please see this News Release for more information!  Hillcrest and PV are on this bond ballot.  All schools will receive secured entryways with this proposal!

Student Attendance

The below information shows the percentage of our students by grade level that are above 90% attendance.

Kindergarten Attendance: 87.50%
1st Grade Attendance: 90.05%
2nd Grade Attendance: 94.06%
3rd Grade Attendance: 94.48%
4th Grade Attendance: 93.76%
5th Grade Attendance: 92.07%

This makes our school percent of students that have above 90% attendance 91.92%.  GREAT JOB 2nd and 3rd Grade students!

Please help us get our building attendance up!  Our building attendance goal is 90%, and we need your help to get to that number.  Please send your student to school when at all possible!

Crosslines Food Drive

This was a great success because of your generosity!  Thank you!

The Year of the Book

Everyone knows how vital literacy is for student success, and for life success.  Please encourage your student to read!  Ask them what they are reading, and what they might be interested in reading.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

When dropping off students in the morning, please follow these procedures to improve safety and efficiency of our process.  Please pull as far up in the line as possible.  Please make sure that your student is ready to get out of the car as quickly as they can so that the line can continue to move.  Please DO NOT park in the drop-off line, and come into the building.  Do not pull alongside the line, and drop-off as this will create an unsafe drop-off line.  If you need to come into the building, please park in a parking spot.  Thank you for attention to these protocols to keep our students safe, and to help your fellow PV families get to work on time!

Teacher Recognition Form

We have amazing teachers and staff here at PV. We often get asked by parents, what is the best way to recognize our wonderful group teachers and staff members. One way is to complete an Employee Recognition Form to show your appreciation. There is no recognition that is too small, and we thank you for taking time to recognize and celebrate our teachers and staff.

We will host a PTA meeting at Pleasant View, in the elementary library, Thursday 01/17/19, at 8:15 AM.

We encourage all families to get involved in the life of PV Elementary. One way you can do this is by joining PTA. Memberships are $10 per person. Please pick up a membership form at school.  You can place your payment in the PTA mailbox located in the elementary hallway near the student restrooms. If you have questions please contact this year's president Sarah Hough.

All Pro Parents Meeting- There is NO December meeting!

The mission of All Pro Parents is to help you (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) love and lead your family well.  Pleasant View elementary hosts a huddle once a month at 7:00 AM.  Our next meeting will be Friday,  01/25/19 in the PV cafeteria.  Please consider joining us, having breakfast, fun, and quality time with your students!

Student Expectations Video

We shared this behavior expectation video with all PV Elementary School students so we could clearly express our expectations for their behaviors in the cafeteria, hallways, and bathrooms.

Car Line Pick-up

Our after school car line pick-up will remain the same as it did last year. Please be mindful that if you are picking up your child in the car line pick-up after school that we begin dismissing students at 2:40 and we request that you arrive for pick-up no later than 3:00. If you are running late please notify the office. Any students not picked up by 3:00 will be escorted to the main office for parent pick-up inside.
